Powerade State Games of North Carolina Venues Announced

DURHAM, North Carolina, January 28, 2013 – North Carolina’s largest multi-sport, amateur athletic sporting event is returning to the Charlotte Region in June.  The Powerade State Games of North Carolina will host events in Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville, Indian Trail, Pineville and Wingate from June 1-30, 2013.

Over 12,000 athletes will have a chance to “go for the gold” in world class venues throughout the Charlotte Region, including UNC Charlotte, Wingate University, Memorial Stadium, Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, Johnson C. Smith University, NorthStone Country Club, Lake Norman YMCA, The Range at Lake Norman, Extreme Ice Center, Carolina Courts, Mooresville Motorplex and many other area schools, parks and recreation facilities.  For a complete list of venues and dates, please visit

Registration is now open for the Powerade State Games of North Carolina.  Nineteen different sports are offered in the 27th edition of the Powerade State Games:  baseball, basketball, cycling, disc golf, fencing, figure skating, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, karate, lacrosse, shooting, soccer, softball, swimming, taekwondo, track & field, ultimate and wrestling.  Athletes can visit to register for each event.

The 2013 Opening Ceremonies will be held June 21 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte.  The Opening Ceremonies features a commemorative gift for participating athletes, games, music, a parade of athletes and a lighting of the cauldron to announce the official start to the 2013 Powerade State Games of North Carolina.
