(above photo) Zane Waterman (5) and Trey Lofton (23) had big games in Glenn’s home win over SWG in early January, Waterman had 23 points and Lofton tallied 20, a repeat performance from these two would go a long way in sending the Bobcats to the next round of the playoffs.
The 2012 NCHSAA Men’s State Basketball tournament pairings were announced on Saturday and the Glenn Bobcats will be going up against a very familiar opponent, conference foe Southwest Guilford. Glenn comes in as an 11 seed facing the 6 seeded Cowboys. The game will be played at Southwest Guilford, with the tip off scheduled for 7:30pm on Monday, February 20th.
Coach Gray’s Bobcats are all too familiar with the Southwest Guilford gym, having lost four games on that floor this season. Now’s the time to break that streak and pick up a playoff win. The Cowboys are riding high after taking the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference Tournament this past Friday night by defeating East Forsyth 82-67.
The two teams split during the regular season, with Glenn winning on their home floor 80-76 on January 6, and Southwest picking up the win at their place on January 31, 73-69. It promises to be a great game between two good teams looking to prolong their season.
