The Glenn Bobcats had a good night in the first round of the Midwest 4A Wrestling Regional, held at Glenn on Friday night.

Of the nine Bobcats competing, seven still have a shot at making the state finals next weekend in Greensboro.

Five Bobcats won their opening match and advanced to Saturday morning’s Championship round.

Nick Carson (113), Kegan Mahaffey (126), Cary Shields (132), Charles Williard (195), and TJ Hines were first round winners, while Travis Allen (106), and DeAnthony Lewis (285) rebounded from a first round loss to win their second match of the night in the consolation round.

Wrestling will resume at 9:00 am on Saturday morning at Glenn High School.
