The Champions from First Assembly Christian School were too much for the Salem Baptist Vikings on Monday afternoon, winning in convincing style 58-14 in a boys middle school basketball game, played at FACS.
FACS took control of the game from the start. The Champions came right out of the gate and applied full court pressure on defense and totally took the Vikings out of their game.
It didn’t seem to matter which combination Coach McKinney had on the floor, his kids were determined to fight for every loose ball and rebound.
After the game Coach McKinney was pleased with his team’s effort. “We played hard and our kids have a great attitude, you can’t ask for more than that”, said McKinney. Hard work and great attitude, that’s a winning combination!
The boys from Salem Baptist battled the entire game and never gave up. Some nights you go up against a stronger team and you take your lumps and keep on fighting.
Even with the lopsided score both teams played with great sportsmanship and respect. Both coaches are to be commended for the way their kids performed on the court.
Jackson Bryant led all scorers with 23 points for FACS. Adam Warren was also in double figures for FACS, scoring 14 points. Also hitting the score book for FACS was Brandon Carter (9), Dalton Pearman (6), Robert Williard (2), Drew Carlin (2), Tre Dennis (1), and Joey Szvetitz (1).
Salem scoring summary: Burwell (6), Griffith (3), Wentrik (3), and Hinton (2).
